A variety of Martial Arts were on offer for enthusiasts
and the public in general. The venue was held at the popular,
David Lloyd Club in Raynes Park, London SW20. The event was part
of a weekend of fund raising to help those unfortunate families left in
the wake of the TSUNAMI in December, 2004.
The Fighting Fit sponsored "Martial
Arts-A-Thon", in aid of the tsunami earthquake disaster, started at
12noon on Sunday 23rd January, 2005, and ran all afternoon. During
that time, supporters participated in Kick boxing, Seal Lung Kung Fu and
general Self Defence routines.
Forming part of the afternoons activities was a four
hour session of non-stop Aikido. This was run by local instructor
Adrian Tyndale. With his assistants, Tony, Derek and Adam he
highlighted some of the finer points of Aikido as a powerful self
defence system, but with the added benefits to health and well being.
Only a few participants managed
to stay the full four hours, well done to those and all who gave their
time and participated. On the day a total of £271.75
was raised.
Overall with pledged amounts and sponsorship
funds, the Martial Arts-A-Thon raised £1334.86.
Congratulations go to Gary Ashby as the
individual who raised the most cash...£259.50.
Thanks extend to Mel and Rav who
organised the event.
